Physical Training:

Neutral mask is a form of training that engages the body in action to discover truth in movement. The essence of this form is the uncovering of the essential presence of the performer and the language of gesture. Neutral Mask allows the performer to embrace physical freedom, discover expression and reveal an inner core that resonates throughout the body.

The clown is irresistable. We laugh at the clown while experiencing and recognizing universal archetypes and emotions. In discovering one's clown, the performer publicly discovers and reveals his or her private reactions and impulses. The Clown exploration reveals the myths of human existence and allows both the performer and the audience to journey through laughter to a deeper sense of connection between life and art.

Voice Training:

The Linklater method of voice training is an approach designed to liberate the natural voice. The work presumes that we are born with the ability to express, through a range of two to four octaves of sound, any complexity of emotion, subtlety of thought, or scope of mood. It also assumes that the tensions, habits and defenses we develop to survive in life diminish the efficiency and expressivity of the natural voice to a point of distorted communication. The Linklater technique offers concrete physical and vocal exercises specifically created to free one’s voice from the psycho-physical restraints that inhibit and conceal the voice. Extended Voice is based upon the work of Alfred Wolfsohn and Roy Hart. The work is based on listening, seeing and exploring the voice as the muscle of the soul. Exercises activate, awaken and express the totality of being. The work encounters the fear of vocal heights and depths and challenges the dogma of the “acceptable” range of voice to which we may feel we’ve been assigned.
