Highest quality service

I provide premium quality service on all types of original equipment auto radios 1925-65, specializing in Corvette and Cadillac Wonderbar , Thunderbird Town and Country, Becker sets, also 1930's and 1940's radios for all makes of cars.

Overhauls With 3 Year Warranty

The Overhaul restores your radio to factory standards for fidelity and sensitivity, search tuner sets bring in stations accurately and reliably. I provide overhauls with the highest long-term reliability in the old car radio field; three-year warranty covers the entire radio, parts and labor.

26 years' experience.

Why an Overhaul is Necessary.

Because of its age, your original radio cannot be serviced the same way as a modern stereo or VCR. Fifteen to thirty parts--the capacitors-- had a reliable life of ten years or less. They deteriorate whether the radio is used or not. This is why replacing a tube or vibrator may get your set to work, but it won't work very well or very long. All sets made before 1965 need these parts replaced as the first step toward reliability.

All other parts--there can be up to fifty of them in the more deluxe designs-- must be checked and replaced as necessary. This is time-consuming but necessary for the proper results. It is not unusual to replace twenty or more parts that have drifted in value or otherwise deteriorated. Whatever your set needs, it gets. The idea is to restore your radio as close to the to the factory standards as possible: tubes like new, all parts renewed or corrected to proper values, all adjustments set correctly, dial mechanisms working cleanly and precisely.

Original radios restored this way are a joy to use. They sound excellent and are very reliable. If you want the original radio in your vintage vehicle working like new, with the highest possible long-term reliability, call me about an overhaul at (707) 823-7927.

Wonderbars and Town & Country Models

These deluxe radios, which seek out stations with electro-mechanical search tuner systems, are one of my specialties. Many restorers don't know how to restore the mechanisms so they stop on stations reliably--I do. I have spent many hundreds of hours learning what these complex sets need for proper operation. Your mechanism is completely disassembled, all parts cleaned and replaced as necessary, reassembled, regapped and relubed. This is time-consuming but gives the high reliablity you want.

Three Year Warranty

The three year warranty covers the entire radio, parts and labor, and is transferable.

Call Me to Discuss Details (707) 823-7927

Before you call, you should examine your set carefully for any damage to the parts you see when it is installed in the car-- the chrome, the dial lens, the pushbuttons. I will ask you about these details so we can work together to get the appearance results you want.

I will then quote the price required for my service. Usually this is a flat rate plus return shipping. The price quote is a firm commitment-- it will hold regardless of unforseen problems that may show up during the restoration. In unusual cases I may have to examine the radio before quoting the price.

Turnaround time is usually 4-6 weeks, or sooner in some cases if speaker work or rechroming is not required.

Trust My Experience

I have been restoring vintage auto radios for 26 years , and have been advertising my services in Hemmings Motor News, the "bible" of the vintage car hobby, since 1975. I have given technical presentations on Wonderbar radios at the Northern and Southern California chapters of the National Corvette Restorers' Society, and discussed radios and their problems at a number of other Northern California car clubs.

My service is not an assembly line or factory operation. The highly personal, high quality emphasis of restoration work precludes that type of approach. I do all the work myself so I know it is done correctly.

Home radios from the 1920's- 1950's also serviced.

Sorry, no parts or radios for sale.
