PR: A comes in and N hands out the poster and discusses assigning areas to canvas: A will take posters to the Stamp Student Union, Theatre Department, English Department and Hornbake Library. N will take posters to MITH, McKeldin, the sciences, and David McNabb in OIT. M will distribute posters in Hyattsville and to DC Dance people. B not here. (A later does Art/Soc), it is unclear where K’s posters will go –one in the Dance De pt.. N to resend publicity info on Digital Performance Group (DPG) to Theatre and Music. M mentions a DC promotional site. N will send something to GCAST. N will add PR to DPG blog.

Scheduling:
Dancer C (top of pyramid) has a "Crucible" rehearsal conflict (yikes!). N goes over the schedule with her. She says she needs to know exactly when she is needed, and right now, that seems like an impossibility. The suggestion is that she comes at 7pm and leaves at 9pm and if we have to, we will rehearse without her. None of the dancers have been present at all of the rehearsals. They are sort of like floating bodies, and we have to trust that they are able to step in anytime as K says. N gets emails of 4 of the dancers. K later says she can't make it on the Wednesday before the show because she has tickets to something, E is deputized as head dancer. N to email everyone including dancers and B&J the newest schedule.

Fire Pyramid

P is doing tech setup, with/ A’s help –while IN is scheduling/talking to dancers. N remind goes over the project introduction with K and reminds K that she needs to write paragraph for her section, Fire (as do the others).

N had made a comment about the tremendous shift in going from underground to this tremendous PR push. It was neat to hear from one of the dancers that there is a buzz about us, the dance under grads are talking. She said she was wondering who this DPG she had heard of was, then she realized she was in it... She laughed.

K mentioned that we were an underground group and said that N (and others were) making art despite the system—doing it anyway…We were being more interdisciplinary than any Center project thus far and we were totally un funded, we brought what we brought (tech, skill, art, perseverance, will, and creativity). One shocking example of the lassie-faire attitude here was that when I told a professor that the show was going well and that we were performing it next week, he replied “good, where did you get the money?” And I said “what money” and he replied, "well how are you getting the media done?" And I said “It’s called cooperation.” “I like that” he said as I explained that we were doing it ourselves, and everyone was doing some editing/writing/performing/tech etc.

Art and Life
Dancers listen to the Fire soundtrack, then practice the pyramid for the tower of babble section (2 dancers). M has injuries to hip along with dying dog issues, N also has house buying concerns...It's funny how what we wrote about in the text was really coming out in daily life. She talks about burying her other dog in her piece, and about her joints aching and found out she has no cartilage left. Meanwhile, Pt and I are under the gun with our condo not selling and the approaching deadline for the sale on our contingency offer on our new house. "My own little spot of earth" (from the text) is threatened.

N helps P on catwalk. P & Mk exchange video/sound for tower of babble & sound for Vikki. Mk is not coming to the next big rehearsal so he will make a CD for P’s box of H20 and Fire.

“Do it like John Belushi’s samurai,” is the advice we gave to A about reading the poem author’s name for Water.

Air
P is off stage with hand mic.

The order is: inhale, wind chimes, flute.

(M never posts her air score---N wishes she would.) N and M finally look over M’s images for Air, and N helps her as if she were a client, going over web images (giving advice about pixilation and going over and writing down changes). Later N sees them projected on M in the space for the first time—M has been working alone with P before, not showing N or others. It turns out that she uses them on the floor, not on the screens, which looks great!
