Grid rehearsal for Earth, "Compass Points". Do we
need to use : multicast or unicast? Which room or venue will
we use (the theatre venue)? “I'm being the Gentner.”
P says as he is manually turning on and off the sound at the
classroom media panel when A speaks on PIG laptop. N shows
A how to use her PIG.
N asks “What did Beth write about?” she replies,
N notes: “So death and gardening” (are common
themes). N asks Beth if she wants to join in saying "boom"
after A's line. (Saying "boom" all together becomes
a big hit with us.) N suggests the idea of joining in to sections
before yours/after so there is some overlap between voices/topics.
A emailed his copy after N arrived. N will take Jimmy/A’s
and composite them together, then email it out or put it on
the blog.
A worried about memorizing lines when he did not know the
other’s parts. N talked about using the time and learning
the parts we already wrote, especially since his is a long
monologue etc. A is going to be the mediated man, displaying
the technology in use (PIG-Grid) like a person online. A has
been resisting the idea of being on stage, but we had no third
body to be the chorus onstage. A wanted his voice recorded
(mediated) so I’m pleased with my compromise idea that
he is on stage but speaking into the camera, and not facing
but indirectly addressing the audience. I express that this
may not be possible if my computer is used for the tap-tiles
and P’s Mac PIG is still unreliable, but say that this
is my preferred option rather than having him in my office
PIG (an earlier suggestion).
P talks to Jimmy about ways around using (expensive) Echo-canceling
equipment for AG in the performance. (There will be speakers
in space 2 upstage, 2 downstage).
Jimmy/Beth strike an American Gothic pose.
N asks P about lighting A’s face.

Next Earth rehearsal will be Thursday 11:30-12:45. N nervous
about not knowing her lines yet, but also structures/integrates
the text flow on the fly –online (although Jimmy/Beth
had placed it themselves). N does it with a little help from
others present.

K corrects N’s spelling on firewords “Abby Hoffman,
speech, RCY” (which take forever to animate, because the
PSD file is so large and my Laptop takes forever to process
it in ImageReady---hours 3-5 just for changes.)P tells N that
the words are to be multicolored and in the pyramid. N animates
in PSD/ImageReady, adjusting the speed, and exporting as a .gif
which P opens in Flash and or Quicktime. |

P and B critique the fill video for the water inside the
body (waterbody) and suggest cutting to fewer clips with lots
of colors no animals, N only agree with not using electric
blue but do it anyway (they are certain so I listen).
N to do list: Copy of waterbody for B, for
P 640X480 scene vs. 320X240 body Cut length to be 4:42 minutes
from 5+ need to reedit with sound Paul edited down and exported
as mpeg. Mk needs video without sound (export separately and
playback from his computer)
1-2 B, K, N, P

|
Mk needs sizzle from A (N facilitates file swap A/Mk’s
footage etc---acts a courier and phone connection—no
Internet in room.)
Mk will fix sound and when will he begin recording members
reading water poem?)

Water: N tells E “you will be filled with trash,”
so she should try to look at the video on the walls and keep
responding to media with her movements--i.e. hands like anemones
clasping.
Scheduling: Wed 1-2 E, Thurs K 10am N&A&M 11:30-1
(2:30), Friday 10-11:30 run/walk all scenes at noon (email
to all). |
